How our approach works

Learn about the unique way we're working together to prevent suicide in Scotland.

Introduction

Creating Hope Together is Scotland’s long term suicide prevention strategy.

As part of the strategy, the Scottish Government and COSLA established a collective which will develop and deliver an operational plan.

Creating Hope Together was developed with people who have lived and living experience of suicide. Their understanding has been crucial to building the strategy.

Suicide Prevention Scotland is the name of our delivery collective.

On this page we’ll explain more about how we work together, and our key areas of focus.

Our community

Our community includes people working in public, private, and third sector as well as community groups. Importantly, it includes many people with lived experience of suicide.

Let's introduce them to you:

  • Cruse

  • Electrify

  • NHS 24

  • NHS Education Scotland (NES)

  • Penumbra

  • SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health)

  • Scottish Government

  • Scottish Recovery Network

  • University of Glasgow

Four strategic outcomes

Our work is shaped around four strategic outcomes.

Each outcome is led by a key partner. They sit as part of a leadership team, which is led by our National Delivery Lead, Haylis Smith.
